MADRASAH MU’EINUL ISLAM (FOR MUSLIM GIRLS) IS SITUATED IN ZAKARIYYA PARK, A SUBURB APPROXIMATELY 30 KILOMETRES SOUTH OF JOHANNESBURG, IN THE PROVINCE OF GAUTENG, SOUTH AFRICA. BACK IN 1985, UNDER THE GUIDANCE AND INSPIRATION OF MUFTI MAHMOOD-UL-HASSAN GANGOHI RA, THE MADRASAH OPENED ITS DOORS WITH A HANDFUL OF STUDENTS AND A FEW TEACHERS. ITS HUMBLE BEGINNINGS WERE IN A HOUSE IN LENASIA AND THEREAFTER, MOVED ON TO ITS OWN PREMISES IN ZAKARIYYA PARK.
WE HAVE CONSIDERED IT OF PARAMOUNT IMPORTANCE TO FACILITATE THE ESTABLISHMENT OF AN INSTITUTION WHEREIN ARABIC, URDU, ISLAMIC STUDIES AND RELATED DISCIPLINES COULD BE TAUGHT IN ITS PRISTINE PURITY WITH FOCUSSED GOALS AND OBJECTIVES USING ADVANCED METHODS.
ALHAMDULILLAH, TODAY, THE MADRASAH HAS GROWN WITH OVER 250 STUDENTS AND IS FLOURISHING WITH STUDENTS FROM A HOST OF COUNTRIES AND A COMPLIMENT OF HIGHLY QUALIFIED AND EXPERIENCED TEACHERS. A LARGE NUMBER OF THE STUDENTS ARE FROM SUCH PARTS OF THE GLOBE WHERE ADEQUATE TERTIARY ISLAMIC EDUCATION IS NOT AVAILABLE. THUS FAR, SCORES HAVE GRADUATED AND ARE SERVING AS TEACHERS AND AALIMAHS (FEMALE SCHOLARS) IN THEIR RESPECTIVE AREAS.
